|FM Talent has been selected to join the Greater Washington Urban League on October 25, 2018, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for our 2020 Decennial Census Complete Count Committee Informational Meeting. We will convene, at our office, 2901 14th Street NW, Washington, DC 20009.
The stakes are high! Over $800 billion of Federal Funding through over 300 programs is distributed on the basis of the Census. A more equitable distribution of such funding is inextricably tied to our collective ability to educate and inspire undercounted communities to engage in their own political and economic empowerment like never before.
In no uncertain terms, a community-driven Count Committee is necessary to ensure a full count in the upcoming 2020 Census in underserved neighborhoods. Funding for housing, transportation, hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and business development for all segments in our communities is on the line. Working together we can exponentially advance the community outreach, increase awareness that informs constituents about the importance of achieving an accurate collection of data and build a strong sense of community pride.
Alongside the Vote, the Count is most critical to driving a more equitable DC Metro. Please join our efforts to make our count matter. For questions about our Census Complete Count Committee Informational Meeting, please email GWULSOCIAL@GWUL.ORG and RSVP by Tuesday, October 23 if you plan to attend.
Yours in the movement,
Greater Washington Urban League
