Giving Even More at a Food Ministry

Berries spelling Love

When I headed out the door to volunteer at my church's Food Ministry, I grabbed the Random Act card and money and slipped them into my pocket, planning to give them to one of our customers as they drove through the pick-up line.

However, I almost forgot about it. Near the end of our shift, a single mother arrived, new to the Food Ministry. I could see she felt a bit embarrassed to be there. After registering her as a new customer, I realized that since we were closing soon, there wasn't much food left. While searching for my phone, I felt the money in my pocket.

I shared the information from your letter about random acts of kindness, handed her the money, and explained that there were no strings attached, but she now had the opportunity to perform a random act of kindness herself. She thanked me through her tears and hugged me, promising she would do it.

Thanks for the wonderful idea and for letting me share.
